Blog 3

As the blog that provides information on topics of interest to the Pittsburgh community, a few items of items to commemorate March 2015 appear appropriate and are below.

  • Spring - Arrived officially on March 20th. The winter was bitter especially the month of February. Hooray!! Not sure spring is truly asserting itself. Today, the wind chill readings are in the teens. Enjoy the warmer temperatures being forecasted by taking walks, taking time to be with your family, and getting together with friends. A number of events are on tap in the coming weeks.
  • Seasonal allergies. - With the arrival of spring, symptoms associated with seasonal allergies (aka Hay fever) may appear. The symptoms include sneezing, congestion, and runny nose. Consult a health care provider if these symptoms appear.
  • Women's History Month -- March is Women's History month. Within our community, an African American woman making a significant contribution to Pittsburgh was Mary Peck Bond. She founded the Center for the Elderly in Pittsburgh in the late 19th century that opened on July 4, 1883. The home was one of the first in the nation.
