CBC Health Braintrust Chairwoman Dr. Robin Kelly Statement on National Nurses Week

U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL), chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, today issued the following statement in recognition of National Nurses Week.

"This week, we recognize National Nurses Week in support and appreciation of nurses across the nation. Nurses are the first line workers in our health care industry providing essential care to patients, expertise in our schools, hospitals and private homes, and leading the way in the fight to improve health outcomes in our communities.

Nursing is honorable, skilled, important work. Regardless of certification level or registration, every nurse is important to the patients and families they serve, offering care and comfort often in the midst of crisis and concern. As we continue with implementation of the Affordable Care Act, it will be critical to continue to support and rely on nurses as they strengthen our health care system, and improve the health and wellness of our communities."
